    Conducting a Risk Assessment

    Tuesday, 21 March 2017

    12.00 p.m. - 1.30 p.m. Eastern

    Presenters: Michelle Shaffer, CPA | Chief Executive Officer | CARMA, Inc.

    Kyle Von Allmen, Esq. | President | Shermeta Law, PLLC

    Mitchel J. Inman | VP of Internal Audit & 3rd Party Oversight | Alorica

    Risk assessments will help organizations determine what areas to audit, and how frequently these audits shall be required. Unfortunately, the risk assessment process is often poorly understood. When this key first step is not properly performed, organizations lose the opportunity the target their internal audit programs for maximum results in managing the risk associated with CFPB and client scrutiny.

    This presentation will teach consumer financial services professionals how to:

    1. Understand the importance of the risk assessment process;

    2. Create a customized risk assessment for their organization; and

    3. Develop an effective tool to document these efforts.

    501r and the FDCPA

    Tuesday, 21 March 2017

    3.00 p.m. - 4.30 p.m. Eastern

    Presenter: Richard Brown | Ontario Systems

    Regulation 501r has serious implications for nonprofit hospitals and the ARM companies that serve them. Failure to comply could result in the loss of a hospital's tax exempt status and possibly insolvency. However, how to divide responsibilities under this regulation is not always clear, particularly when the ARM company must be aware of other regulations like the FDCPA. Should ECA notices be sent by the hospital or the ARM company? How involved should the ARM company be in evaluating patients for financial assistance?

    This presentation will teach consumer financial services professionals how to:

    1. Understand the key elements of 501r and who is responsible for complying with them;

    2. Create workflows and information exchange procedures to manage 501r's requirements; and

    3. Develop contractual provisions that address 501r requirements and FDCPA risks related to 501r.

    Effective Vendor Oversight

    Presenters: Leslie Bender | VP Government Affairs & General Counsel | BCA Financial Services

    Bryan Albertson | Chief Information Officer | TECH LOCK

    Regulatory bodies have made it clear that organizations are responsible for the compliance and data security of their vendors. This presentation will provide a clear action plan to effectively oversee vendors with access to protected information. When is an onsite visit required? What should be included in a questionnaire? Attendees will understand appropriate due diligence actions required to assess a potential vendor’s data security and compliance.

    Training/Developing Your Board of Directors

    Wednesday, 22 March 2017

    Having an informed Board of Directors is not only good for the compliance management of your agency -- it's an expectation of regulators, especially the CFPB. Presenters: Kelly Knepper-Stephens | General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer | Stoneleigh Recovery Associates

    David Cherner | Counsel | Moss & Barnett
